In today’s Gospel the disciples see that the day has turned toward evening and the people are hungry. Christ says to them: you give them something to eat. And with five loaves and two fish he feeds thousands, and twelve baskets are left over. This is not about how little we have, but about how close he is. The saint of the day, Patriarch Ignatius, lived in difficult times: he was twice placed on the patriarchal throne and twice driven out. Yet he did not grow bitter, but carried his cross meekly to the end, and the Church remembers him as a hierarch. His life reminds us that faithfulness to God matters more than any circumstances. May we too have enough quiet trust in Christ today. May the Lord’s blessing be with you, and may his peace warm your hearts.
